Six Fundamental Principles

1. Sexual exploitation and abuse constitute serious misconduct and are therefore grounds for disciplinary action, including termination of contract.
2. Sexual activities carried out with boys and girls (that is, with persons under the age of 18) are prohibited. An erroneous estimate of the age of a boy or a girl cannot be adduced as a defense.
3. The exchange of money, employment, goods or services for sex, including sexual favors or other forms of humiliating, degrading or exploitative behaviour, is prohibited.
4. Sexual relations between Juntos Construyendo Futuro employees/contractors and the beneficiaries of the different programs, given that they are based on inherently unequal power dynamics, undermine the credibility and integrity of the Corporation’s work, for which reason they are strongly discouraged.
5. In the event that a Juntos Construyendo Futuro employee/contractor has concerns or suspicions regarding the commission of sexual exploitation or abuse by another member of the team, belonging or not to the same program or area, they must report these concerns through the mechanisms of existing complaints.
6. The Corporation’s professional teams have an obligation to establish and maintain an environment that promotes the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse. The General Directorate, headquarters and Coordinations at all levels have a particular responsibility to support and promote systems that allow maintaining this type of environment.
